Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
CritiDose is a medication reminder application for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app stores, how it is used, and what protections are in place. We are committed to keeping your health and medication information private.
This policy covers the current version of CritiDose, which is a fully local, offline application. Sections that describe future optional features are clearly labelled.
2. What Data Is Stored (Current Version)
CritiDose currently stores the following information locally on your device only:
- Medication routines — names, schedules, dose amounts, and instructions you enter
- Reminder settings — scheduled reminder times, snooze durations, and Critical Alert preferences
- Dose history — a log of when you marked doses as taken, skipped, or snoozed
- Stock information — current stock levels, units, and low-stock thresholds you set
- App preferences — settings such as alarm sound, late grace period, haptic feedback, and reminder reliability preferences
No health data beyond what you enter yourself is collected. CritiDose does not read data from HealthConnect, Google Fit, or any other health platform.
3. Data Stays on Your Device (Current Version)
All data listed in Section 2 is stored locally in a database on your Android device only.
- CritiDose currently does not transmit your medication data, dose history, or any personal information to any server, cloud service, or third party.
- There is currently no backend server associated with CritiDose.
- Your data cannot currently be accessed by the developer or any other party.
- Data is not backed up to any external service unless you use Android's standard device backup (managed by Google and subject to your Google Account settings).
4. No Account Required (Current Version)
CritiDose currently does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, date of birth, or phone number.
The app is fully functional without any registration. Basic medication reminders will not require account creation unless this is clearly disclosed in a future update.
5. No Data Sold or Shared
- CritiDose does not sell your data to any third party.
- CritiDose does not share your medication data, dose history, or any personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies.
- CritiDose does not share your data with the developer or any other individual or organization.
6. No Analytics or Third-Party Tracking (Current Version)
CritiDose currently does not integrate any analytics SDK, crash reporting service, advertising network, or third-party tracking library.
An AnalyticsManager class exists in the app's code as a future-ready façade. In the current version, it writes diagnostic events to the Android system log (Logcat) only — these logs are local to your device and are not transmitted anywhere. No external analytics service is connected.
If analytics or crash reporting is added in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated before that version is released.
7. Permissions — Notifications and Alarms
CritiDose requests the following permissions to deliver medication reminders:
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)
Required on Android 13 and later to display medication reminder notifications. Notifications are generated entirely on your device and do not involve any server communication.
Exact Alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM)
Required to schedule reminders that fire at the precise time you set. Without exact alarms, the operating system may delay reminders by minutes or longer. On Android 12 and later, you may be asked to grant this in system settings. You can revoke it at any time.
Boot Completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED)
Allows the app to reschedule active reminders after your device restarts, preventing reminders from going silent. No personal data is transmitted during this event.
Battery Optimization (REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS)
Requests exemption from battery restrictions so that reminders are not suppressed when the device is idle. Devices from certain manufacturers (Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei) apply aggressive restrictions that can block alarms. You can revoke this at any time in Android settings.
Vibration (VIBRATE)
Used to vibrate the device for notification feedback and alarm alerts.
Wake Lock (WAKE_LOCK)
Used to keep the device processor briefly active when a Critical Alert alarm fires, ensuring the alarm screen has time to appear.
8. Permissions — Full-Screen Alarm (USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT)
CritiDose includes a feature called Critical Alert Mode. When enabled for a specific medication routine, CritiDose displays a full-screen alarm screen when that reminder fires and your device screen is off or locked. Critical Alert Mode is a user-enabled medication reminder and alarm feature — it is not emergency medical monitoring.
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT is required for this alarm screen. This is the same mechanism used by alarm clock apps and incoming call screens.
Critical Alert Mode is:
- Off by default for every medication routine
- Opt-in per routine — you choose which medications are high priority
- Not shown unless you have explicitly enabled it for a routine
No data is sent externally during a Critical Alert. The alarm is entirely local to your device.
9. How to Delete Your Data
All CritiDose data is stored on your device only. You can delete it in any of the following ways:
- Uninstall the app — permanently deletes the local database, all routines, dose history, and preferences.
- Clear app data — Android Settings → Apps → CritiDose → Storage → Clear Data. Resets the app to a fresh state and permanently deletes all stored data.
- Delete individual items in-app — delete individual medication routines from the Medicine Cabinet screen. Deleted routines and associated dose history are removed permanently.
Because all data is currently local, there is no server-side deletion needed. See our Account Deletion page for what will happen if cloud account features are introduced in the future.
10. Children's Privacy
CritiDose is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because no account is created and no data is transmitted, there is no mechanism by which the developer could collect data from any user.
If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns, please contact us at support@critidose.com.
11. Security
CritiDose stores your medication data in a local database on your device. The security of this data is tied to the security of your device. We recommend using a screen lock (PIN, fingerprint, or facial recognition) and keeping your Android OS up to date.
Because no data is currently transmitted off-device, there is no network transmission to secure.
12. Future Optional Features
CritiDose may introduce optional features in future versions. These features are not available in the current version. When introduced, they will be optional and clearly disclosed.
- Optional account and cloud backup/restore — users may be able to create an account to back up and restore medication routines across devices. This will be opt-in only. Basic medication reminders will remain available without an account.
- Multi-device sync — medication data may be optionally synced across devices via a personal cloud account.
- Pro subscription features — paid features such as unlimited medicines, full history export, and advanced refill planning may be offered via a Pro plan.
- Caregiver or family sharing — shared access features are not part of the current or near-term roadmap and will not be introduced without explicit disclosure and consent flows.
Before any of these features are enabled, this Privacy Policy, the Data Safety disclosures in Google Play, and the Account Deletion page will be updated to reflect the new data practices.
13. Future Changes — Billing and Subscriptions
CritiDose includes the infrastructure for optional paid features (Pro plan). In the current version, billing is not active and no purchases can be made. If billing is added in a future version, no financial data is stored by CritiDose — all payment processing is handled by Google Play Billing, subject to Google's privacy policy.

15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last Updated date at the top of this document. If the changes are significant — especially if they relate to new data collection, account creation, or cloud sync — we will make reasonable efforts to inform users via an in-app notice before that version is released.
Your continued use of CritiDose after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
